Daniel Zapata works in Netflix's Edge Developer Experience team, creating tools that power the developer experience and provide operational insight to various engineering groups.
In his talk, Daniel will share how to use docker automation to enhance the developer experience. This is an often overlooked part of software development, but Daniel will show how getting this right enables an incredible Continuous Delivery experience for your team.
Daniel has 16 years of development, release management, automation, and white and black box testing experience. Prior to Netflix, Daniel worked at various startups establishing release processes as well as defining and implementing automation architecture. In addition, he holds a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
Steve Johnson is a Solution Architect Specialist in Mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) for Amazon's AWS group, supporting AWS customers around the world with IoT implementation.
IoT was one of the hottest topics at this year's AWS re:Invent Conference. This session will introduce you to the AWS IoT Service, and how it can be used as an automation hub for on-premesis and cloud-based systems. It will cover best practices for coordinating AWS services for different use cases. Using the AWS IoT Service, he will demonstrate a serverless architecture that supports complex behavior and logic.
In the past, Steve worked as a Solution Architect in the Amazon Appstore. Outside of the office, Steve restores 80's arcade games, and has several respectable high scores.
Blake Matheny is an Engineering Director at Facebook where he is responsible for systems including the Linux kernel as well as Tupperware, the Facebook cluster and job management infrastructure. The Facebook Kernel team strives to keep pace with the mainline Linux kernel, actively developing features against the mainline tree and back porting them into the tree.
Blake will discuss the issues Facebook's Kernel Team has run into, and also share the approaches they’ve taken that have enabled them to keep hundreds of thousands of servers as close to mainline as possible.
Blake has been working on large scale distributed systems for more than ten years, and is currently enamored with C++11, approaches to asynchronous computation, and scheduling algorithms. Although formerly from NYC, Blake currently lives in California with a cat that hates him, his wife, and their collection of books.
